Hi there! I’m your brain. I’m like a house you carry everywhere you go. Every day, I help you think, learn, remember, imagine, and feel. Step inside and I’ll show you some of my rooms. Each has a fun and important job!Memory Room: Do you remember your best friend’s birthday or the words to your favourite song? That’s me at work! My Memory Room stores all sorts of things, from fun moments to facts you learn at school. Think of it as a giant cupboard filled with tiny memory boxes. A tiny part called the hippocampus acts like a head librarian, helping store new memories.Imagination Studio: Welcome to my most colourful room, where stories, inventions, drawings, and wild ideas are created. Want to imagine a dinosaur playing cricket? No problem. This room loves adventures and big ideas.Emotion Balcony: This place helps you understand your feelings. Whether you’re excited about a school trip, nervous before a test, or happy to spend time with friends, the Emotion Balcony is hard at work. Deep inside me is a small area called the amygdala that helps me react to exciting, surprising, or scary situations. It also helps you understand your feelings and notice how other people might be feeling too.Puzzle Lab: This area loves challenges. It’s powered by the prefrontal cortex, the part that helps with planning, decision-making, and solving problems. Every time you solve a Maths problem, learn a new game, or figure out a tricky riddle, you’re using the Puzzle Lab. The more you practise, the stronger it becomes.Message Centre: This is my busiest room. Love to dance, jump, or ride a bicycle? Thank the Message Centre. It sends instructions to the rest of your body faster than you can blink. These messages travel through millions of nerve cells called neurons that work like tiny messengers racing around your body.Dream Theatre: Every night, I put on a show. Some dreams are funny. Some are scary. Some make no sense at all! Scientists are still trying to understand exactly why humans dream, which makes this one of my biggest mysteries.Pretty amazing, isn’t it? All my rooms work together every day to help you learn, play, remember, imagine, communicate, solve problems, and understand your feelings. So the next time you come up with a brilliant idea or remember an important fact, thank the amazing house inside your head: your brain! Published - July 17, 2026 10:00 am IST
