July 17, 2026 — 7:49amA 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital following a stabbing at a Redlands house overnight, with a second teenager set to appear in court on Friday.An altercation broke out among a “large group of teenagers” at a property on Devon Road shortly after 7.30pm, police said.When officers arrived at the scene they found a 16-year-old boy with serious injuries, including stab wounds.They initially could not locate the alleged attacker but quickly found a 17-year-old boy on Oxford Street, about one or two blocks over from the property.Paramedics treated the 16-year-old for facial, chest, hand and back injuries.A statement from the Queensland Ambulance Service said the 16-year-old was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition, although he was assessed as stable upon his arrival.His condition remained stable on Friday.The two boys were known to one another, officers said.On Thursday night, police declared a crime scene at the Devon Road property, and the 17-year-old was charged with one count of wounding the next morning.He was denied bail and expected to appear before Cleveland Childrens Court on Friday.Police urged anyone who might have CCTV or dashcam footage of the alleged stabbing, or useful information, to come forward.The stabbing comes days after a 16-year-old allegedly stabbed another teenage boy at a school in Brisbane’s south, for which he was charged one count of acting to maim, disfigure or disable and unlawful possession of a category M weapon.The 16-year-old faced Richlands Childrens Court on July 15.Start the day with a summary of the day’s most important and interesting stories, analysis and insights.
