Kolkata: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Thursday conducted raids at multiple locations in West Bengal, including the residence of a local Trinamool Congress leader and a madrasa in North 24 Parganas district, in connection with an alleged terror-funding case.The ATS conducted search operations in Rameswarpur village of Hasnabad block in North 24 Parganas at the residence of Trinamool leader Abdullah Gazi and the Rameswarpur Darul Uloom madrasa. The ATS team was accompanied by personnel from the CAPF.According to sources, the raids were related to suspected overseas funding that was allegedly routed into the bank accounts of Gazi and his son, purportedly for the expansion and construction of the madrasa. However, when the ATS team reached Gazi's residence, both Gazi and his son were absconding. The Uttar Pradesh ATS had arrested Gazi on the same charges two years ago.

The raids are connected to an alleged terror-funding case involving overseas money transfers. Both the local leader and his son were reportedly absconding during the search operations. The UP ATS had previously arrested the leader on similar charges two years ago.
