Following a fifth night of attacks by US forces, Iran has said that if President Trump goes ahead with his threats to bomb power stations and bridges, it will target infrastructure across the Gulf.
The Americans insist their actions are aimed at opening the Strait of Hormuz to shipping.
Iran not only called its control over the Strait a ‘red line’ but signalled that it may expand the chokehold on global energy supplies by getting its Houthi allies in Yemen to close another vital waterway that leads to the Red Sea.
