U.S. President Donald Trump warned that if the Islamic Republic of Iran attacks vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, the United States will respond by targeting Iranian infrastructure, including bridges and power plants.
In a message published on Wednesday, July 22, on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “From this point forward, anytime the Islamic Republic of Iran fires on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, whether with a missile, rocket, drone, or any other weapon, the United States will bomb and destroy a bridge or power plant.”
He added that this warning explicitly includes bridges and power facilities located “next to or inside the capital, Tehran.”
Trump’s statements come amid rising tensions in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz in recent weeks, which have heightened global concerns regarding maritime security and energy transit through the strategic waterway.
The Strait of Hormuz serves as one of the world’s most critical transit routes for petroleum and natural gas, and any disruption to shipping safety could have major repercussions for global energy markets.
