On Thursday, an intruder snuck into Rockefeller Center and lunged at the Today show host Craig Melvin, according to law-enforcement officials. In a statement, the NYPD said its officers responded to reports of a “disorderly person” at the midtown building around 9 a.m. The man, who has not been publicly identified, apparently slipped past security and began asking for meteorologist Al Roker. When he was unable to reach Roker, the man reportedly accosted Melvin and yelled a racial slur before security detained him. He was arrested on the premises and taken into police custody.
