Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the alleged brutal rape and murder of a female Point of Sale (POS) operator, whose body was discovered in a canal in the Sangotedo-Ajah area of the state.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, on Thursday, the grim discovery was made following a distress call that prompted an immediate response from law enforcement.
“The command received information on July 14, 2026, at about 11:45 a.m. that the suspect had allegedly killed the woman and was attempting to dispose of her body in a canal along Monastery Road, Mopo, Ajah.
“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) immediately led a team of operatives to the scene, where the suspect, who had already been apprehended by security guards in the area, was taken into Police custody.
