The Ebonyi State Ministry of Capital City Development and Urban Planning has demolished unapproved structures erected along major roads and streets in Abakaliki metropolis.

The exercise was part of the ministry’s ongoing building control and environmental sanitation enforcement aimed at promoting orderly urban development and maintaining a clean environment in the state capital.

The demolition was carried out during a joint inspection led by the Commissioner for Capital City Development and Urban Planning, Hon. Richard Ugo Idike, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Martina Obia, Head of Department of Town Planning, Mrs. Esther Nwite, members of the ministry’s management team and other officials.

The inspection team visited areas including Nise Street through Edda Street, Afikpo Road, Lot 3 by Express Highway and Agwu Street, where illegally constructed shops obstructing roadways were removed to restore free movement for pedestrians and motorists.
