The police have arrested a migrant worker from West Bengal on the charge of sexually assaulting a goat at Kavundampalayam in Coimbatore.Gobindo Das (35) from Sandeshkhali village in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, who was a construction labourer in the city, was arrested based on a complaint lodged by a 54-year-old man from Mariamman Kovil Street at Kavundampalayam.The complainant told the police that he was rearing 10 goats in a shed located on the lower portion of his house. He heard the bleating of a goat from the bushes close to his residence on Tuesday evening. He went out to check on the goat and found the accused subjecting the animal to bestiality. According to the complaint, the accused verbally harassed him and threw stones at him, besides threatening him, when he intervened to save the goat.The police registered a case against Das under different Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and arrested him on Wednesday.
