Top BJP leaders reacted strongly to an incident at a private school where a primary class student was allegedly asked to recite verses from Islamic religious scriptures, and called for strict action against those responsible.Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, took strong exception to the incident, describing it as an attempt at the ‘religious indoctrination’ of innocent minors. He said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy must take responsibility for the episode, alleging that it was the result of the Congress government’s “poisonous politics of appeasement.”In a separate statement, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao alleged that a new trend of ‘education jihad’ had surfaced in the Old City, which he termed “highly condemnable and objectionable.” He also held Chief Minister Revanth Reddy “fully responsible for this malicious act,” accusing him of indulging in “vote-bank appeasement politics.”Mr. Ramchander Rao questioned why the State government and the Education Department had not initiated strict action against the school management so far.
