Taking exception to the incidents of three boys writing the CET being allegedly made to remove their ‘janivara’ before entering the exam hall, the BJP has termed it as an insult to the religious sentiments and demanded immediate arrest of those responsible for it. He alleged that Hindus were being targeted in such incidents.

Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R. Ashok, who took one of the three boys who was allegedly asked to remove his ‘janivara’, and his parents to the office of the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner to bring pressure on the police to register a case in this regard, told media persons that the police were initially reluctant to register a case. Only after he had a telephonic conversation with the DG&IGP and met the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner did they agreed to register a case, he said.

Mr. Ashok alleged that the CET authorities were behaving in an insensitive manner as they were of the view that the present Congress dispensation, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, would be happy if they ask the students remove the ‘janivara’.
