Counterintelligence and investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine have detained the CEO of a defense enterprise and his deputy for production, who are suspected of allowing ammunition to be stored in warehouses located near residential buildings in the city of Vyshneve, Kyiv region.
According to Ukrinform, the SSU reported this.
On July 6 of this year, as a result of a combined attack by the Russian Federation on the Kyiv region, a fire broke out at the warehouses of a restricted-access facility, followed by the detonation of ammunition stored in the hangars.
“It has been established that these storage facilities were not intended for the storage of ammunition and were being used without the appropriate permits. According to the case file, this occurred because the company’s CEO improperly organized production and operational activities and failed to ensure compliance with fire safety requirements and regulatory acts regarding the storage of ammunition and explosive substances,” the SSU stated.
In addition, the SSU noted that the deputy CEO allowed ammunition to be stored in unsuitable warehouse facilities in proximity to residential areas. This led to the death and injury of people, as well as the destruction and damage of civilian property.
