Ad Hoc Committee Chairperson Soviet Lekganyane dismissed social media reports of draft findings of the committee as premature, irrational, and gullible.

Ad Hoc Committee Chairperson Soviet Lekganyane has expressed concern over reports that the committee probing allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has exonerated several individuals of wrongdoing.

This comes after the committee met on Tuesday to deliberate on the consolidated draft preliminary report, which includes inputs submitted by the political parties.

A presentation to the MPs indicated that the approach to the findings was that the committee was an oversight body, not a court or prosecutorial authority.

The draft report stated that where evidence was incomplete, indirect, classified, contested, or not tested with an affected person, the report used cautious language.
