An off-duty SAPS officer has been remanded in custody after allegedly shooting three men during a dispute over the last serving of chicken gizzards outside a Sebokeng eatery, leaving one man dead and another wounded.
Detective Constable Elias Moeketsi Pinkoane (34) appeared in the Sebokeng Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder and attempted murder following the early morning shooting outside BK Lifestyle Cafe on Sunday, 12 July.
According to SAPS, Pinkoane was off duty but allegedly arrived at the venue in a state vehicle. At about 3am, as the establishment was closing, he and his partner joined a queue to buy gizzards.
Police allege an argument broke out after one of the men in the queue attempted to buy all the remaining gizzards.
Investigators claim the confrontation escalated when Pinkoane allegedly returned to the state vehicle, retrieved his service pistol and fired at the three men through the vehicle’s window before driving away.
