Ukraine has consistently supported Poland's requests for search and exhumation work over the past two years by granting the necessary permits and facilitating the process. Another round of exhumation work is scheduled to take place in Lviv in August.
This was announced on Facebook by Vasyl Bodnar, Ukraine's Ambassador to Poland.
"Recently, the Polish public space has seen an increasing number of statements and arbitrary interpretations regarding search and exhumation work in Ukraine. Over the past two years, Ukraine has consistently granted permits and ensured the implementation of work requested by Polish state institutions and civil society organizations," Bodnar said.
He recalled that in 2025, two exhumation projects were carried out in Ukraine: one in the former village of Puzhnyky in the Ternopil region at the request of the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin and the Freedom and Democracy Foundation, and another in Lviv at the request of Poland's Institute of National Remembrance.
Following the completion of the work, official reburial ceremonies attended by senior officials from both countries took place on September 6 in Puzhnyky and on September 14 in Mostyska.
