Fuel shortages have affected several areas across Sumatra over the past week, triggering long queues at gas stations, forcing some motorists to spend the night waiting for fuel supplies, and even contributing to a fatal incident.North Sumatra has been among the worst-affected areas. A number of fuel stations (SPBU) along the Medan–Aceh section of the Trans-Sumatra Highway, one of the province’s key transportation routes, have stopped selling both subsidized and non-subsidized fuel products after running out of stock.
