Across the political spectrum, politics has stopped being about lifting living standards and has become simply about winning and keeping office. Yet the settings demand far more.Australia’s living standards have fallen further than anywhere else in the developed world. Productivity outside the market sector has collapsed. Real wages and real disposable incomes have gone backwards. These are not the claims of the unhinged but are the findings of international agencies. The world is telling Australia that more is needed.
