AI search vendor Perplexity’s release of a new sandbox platform on Wednesday indicates that it could be pivoting away from its original focus.
Space provides stronger security for Perplexity’s AI agent, Computer. Introduced in February, Computer is designed to be a digital worker that can browse the web, write code, manage files and interact with external applications. To help protect the sessions the computer agent is working on, Space creates a sandbox in a separate area that houses the data it processes.
The platform is different from Spaces, the AI collaboration and research hubs the vendor released in 2024.
