Salar Velayatmadar, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, stressed the implementation of what he termed “retribution” (qisas), stating that the Islamic Republic would target “two tiers of commanders and two tiers of decision-making officials” in the United States and Israel. He added that following the US Congress’s authorization of war, “Iran’s justification is complete.”
Speaking to KhabarOnline about the resumption of hostilities between Iran and the United States, Velayatmadar noted that by authorizing war, the US Congress had paved the way for Iran to carry out what he described as “retribution” and “revenge.”
He claimed that this “retribution” would involve targeting top US leaders, from the president down to officials two tiers below, as well as the top two levels of senior Israeli officials. According to him, the Islamic Republic “will soon both exact retribution upon them and take revenge.”
The National Security Committee member distinguished between “retribution” and “revenge,” defining “retribution” as targeting senior US and Israeli officials, while describing “revenge” as preserving and strengthening the Islamic Republic, expanding its regional influence and enhancing the country’s deterrence capabilities.
