Informed sources have told IranWire that, coinciding with the start of the third wave of U.S. strikes against Iran, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has deployed approximately 3,000 personnel from its Saberin Special Forces Unit, alongside units from the IRGC Ground Force and Aerospace Force, as well as heavy military equipment, to the border areas of Kurdistan, significantly increasing its military presence in the region.

According to information obtained by IranWire, the deployed forces have been stationed in the counties of Sardasht, Baneh, Piranshahr, and Marivan. These sources also reported the transfer of heavy military hardware, including tanks, artillery units, Katyusha rocket launchers, and a large number of reconnaissance and kamikaze drones, to these areas.

IRGC artillery units have also been positioned in the border areas of “Gwezeh” in Sardasht, “Dasht-e Wazneh,” and the vicinity of “Qabr-e Hossein (Keper).”

An informed source told IranWire that, due to fears of potential U.S. airstrikes, IRGC forces stationed in the border areas are avoiding staying inside their military bases at night, opting instead to spend the night in vehicles or near border villages. According to the source, these forces return to their bases during the day.
