The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research will launch a month-long campaign, starting Thursday, to promote Central government’s flagship healthcare initiatives under the Ayushman Bharat and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission programmes.The programme titled ‘Freedom from Illness Campaign,’ was aimed at facilitating free registration and on-the-spot generation of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) numbers, Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) cards and Ayushman Vay Vandana cards for eligible beneficiaries.Free beneficiary enrolmentDuring the campaign period, multiple registration counters will function daily from 6.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jipmer campus. The registration and generation of cards would be done free of cost. While AB PM-JAY offers cashless health insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per eligible family per year for hospitalisation, the Ayshuman Vay Vandana scheme provides cashless health insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per eligible senior citizen aged 70 years and above per year, ensuring greater healthcare security for the elderly, Jipmer said in a release.The ABHA number, which is a unique 14-digit digital health identity, enables individuals to securely store and access their medical records digitally, the release said.
