The European Union has allocated another batch of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of EUR 1 billion for the purchase of drones as part of the Ukraine Support Loan for 2026-2027.
That’s according to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who spoke at a press conference during a visit to Kyiv on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Our EUR 90 billion Ukraine Support loan is fully at work. More than a third will be invested in defense products for Ukraine alone,” von der Leyen said, noting that on June 30, the EU disbursed the first military assistance package for drones in the amount of 4 billion euros, which was the largest drone support package globally.
“And today I’m glad announce a new disbursement of another EUR 1 billion for drones specifically,” von der Leyen noted, adding that more is to come and that the EU has just approved EUR 10 billion disbursement plans for more drones, missiles, and fighter aircraft.
“This is just only the beginning,” the European Commission President stressed.
