European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the release of the first €3.2 billion tranche under the EU’s new Ukraine Support Loan, alongside upcoming funding for drone production, during the Ukraine Recovery Conference held in Gdańsk on June 25.

The disbursement is part of a broader €90 billion EU financial package for Ukraine covering 2026–2027, designed to support both the country’s war effort and broader state financing needs.

“Today, we are transferring the first tranche under this loan, €3.2 billion in macro-financial assistance,” von der Leyen said, adding that the EU and its member states have already provided around €200 billion in total assistance since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

She also confirmed that additional funding from a €6 billion allocation for drone production will begin flowing in the coming days, describing the measures as “solidarity in action.”

According to Ukrainian officials, the new tranche has already been transferred to the state budget. Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said the funds will strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities and social stability, noting that the loan is part of a wider EU support framework with access of up to €45 billion expected in 2026 alone.
