The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) has announced special examinations for law students following a leak of first-semester exam papers, sparking a legal challenge from affected students.

The university is adamant that the rewrite is necessary to protect the integrity of its assessment processes.
This decision has sparked a legal challenge from a group of part-time Bachelor of Laws (LLB) students, who have reportedly raised more than R40,000 to appoint legal counsel in a bid to overturn the rewrite decision.
The students said the blanket decision required hundreds of students to rewrite the examinations, regardless of whether they were implicated in the leak or not.
