A new report conducted by an outside law firm found that the University of Michigan overlooked warning signs before it fired former football coach Sherrone Moore for an affair with an assistant.
The findings, which have not been publicly released, were reported by The Wall Street Journal. ESPN also reported on the findings and said the university’s Board of Regents will discuss them at a meeting Thursday.
Although Moore was fired in December, questions about his behavior were swirling for more than a year before, according to the Journal. In late August 2024, Michigan Athletic Director Warde Manuel noted concerns about Moore’s close relationship with Paige Shiver, his executive assistant. The report found that Manuel had told Moore at the time that Shiver could no longer accompany him on trips.
