Ukraine's Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) has suffered another blackout – its tenth since the beginning of 2026. External power has since been restored.
According to Ukrinform, Ukraine's state nuclear operator Energoatom reported this on Facebook.
"The occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP once again lost its external power supply and was forced to switch to backup diesel generators, which ensure the operation of critical safety systems. External power to the plant has now been restored," the statement said.
Energoatom noted that this was the tenth blackout since the start of 2026 – "an alarming anti-record" for Europe's largest nuclear power plant, which has been under Russian occupation for more than four years.
"Such statistics is unprecedented and reflects the critical state of nuclear safety at the facility," the company said.
