NewsUK NewsFireA major incident has been declared after the fire broke out at a recycling centre on Kings Weston Lane in Avonmouth near Bristol in the early hours of this morning07:30, 15 Jul 2026Updated 07:40, 15 Jul 2026Fire crews have been battling a massive fire at a recycling centre near Bristol.‌Emergency services descended on the facility in Avonmouth after they were first called to the incident at around 3.30am today.‌Residents have been warned to stay indoors and keep their windows shut as a major incident was declared by Avon Fire and Rescue Service shortly after 6am.‌Its statement on X, the fire service said: "We're responding to a significant fire at a recycling centre on Kings Weston Lane, Avonmouth. A major incident has been declared."There's a large smoke plume blowing south. If you're nearby, keep windows and doors closed and stay in doors where possible."‌In an update issued at 7am the fire service said crews were still battling to bring the fire under control, Bristol Live reports.They added: “All personnel at the site were safely evacuated and there are currently no reported injuries.”Traffic diversions are in place after Kings Weston Lane was closed between the A403 St Andrews Road and Long Cross.Article continues belowThis is a Breaking News story.
