A SaharaReporters' review of the Lagos State budget for the 2026 fiscal year has shown that a sum of N20billion is earmarked for the construction of fencing and drainage channels at the Lagos State House of Assembly's permanent legislative quarters.
According to the budget document reviewed by SaharaReporters, the allocation is specifically designated for the construction of a new perimeter fence, drainage channels and the covering of gutters within the legislative quarters.
The budget description reads: "Construction of new fence and drainage channels at the Permanent Legislative Quarters, covering of gutters 20,000,000,000.00 (N20 billion)," with N500 million already spent between January and March 2026, representing expenditure recorded during the first quarter of the year.
The allocation ranks among the major infrastructure projects captured in the House of Assembly's budget and exceeds several other capital projects planned by the legislature for the year.
