A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by Nafiu Bala Gombe, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remove the names of former Senate President David Mark and members of the party's National Working Committee (NWC) from its official portal, insisting that the committee no longer enjoys legal recognition.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, and signed by Nafiu Bala, he claimed that a court judgment had directed INEC to withdraw recognition from the David Mark-led NWC and invalidate all decisions, resolutions, and actions taken by the committee.
SaharaReporters had reported that the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Monday affirmed the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja restraining INEC from recognising or participating in any state congresses organised by committees appointed by the David Mark-led caretaker leadership of the ADC.
The appellate court's decision upholds the earlier ruling of the Federal High Court, which barred INEC from giving official recognition to or participating in state congresses conducted by committees constituted by the ADC's caretaker leadership headed by Mark.
