Valuable exhibits remain in some museum institutions in the Kharkiv region because they may be damaged during evacuation.
This is stated in Ukrinform's report on the start of conservation work on the building of the art museum, which was hit by a Shahed drone in June.
"There are objects of cultural heritage, even first-priority ones, that cannot be moved at all. Because there are very high risks of damage during transportation. They are being stored for us — I will not say where. If the buildings where they are stored had fully equipped bomb shelters, of course, we would have moved them down there. But there are none," said Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.
According to him, the region has a shelter project specifically for museum items — based at the Kharkiv Professional Higher Art College. However, there is no certainty that the state or partner countries will finance the project.
