Suspended KwaZulu-Natal Athletics President Steve Mkasi has given his version of happening in a viral video showing him tussling with another man.
Suspended KwaZulu-Natal Athletics president Steve Mkasi has moved to clarify the circumstances surrounding a viral video that appeared to show him involved in a street fight, insisting the footage has been widely misunderstood.
The video, which circulated extensively on social media, shows Mkasi and another man grappling on a roadway before both end up on the ground. Reports have identified the other individual as Ama Ravens Athletics Club member Sphephelo Ndlovu.
Speaking to IOL, Mkasi said the clip captured only part of the incident and lacked the context needed to understand what had occurred.
"I assume you saw the video, in fact all of us saw the video. I can explain what happened there, since it’s clear others who were not there aren’t able to," he said.
