This is a response to a dare by a friend, who suggested, “You have friends dwelling in the ‘Rock’, (meaning Aso Rock). Query them (on the vexing issue of Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi and his relationship with senior government officials).”
The scoop is that Adeyemi allegedly formed two agencies and put them within the architecture of the government of President Bola Tinubu, the “City Boy”, who should ordinarily not fall prey to anyone who may look like a con artist.
He created the “Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotional Council,’ whereas there is a Ministry of Industries, Trade and Investment; Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Nigeria in Diaspora Commission that handle foreign, diaspora and international trade matters.
Also, he reportedly established a Presidential Economic Advisory Council, as President Tinubu already chairs a Presidential Economic Coordination Council, with the likes of Tony Elumelu of United Bank for Africa as members.
The “inventions” probably occurred because state actors stubbornly refused to implement the Oransaye Report that had suggested, aeons ago, that duplications of government ministries, departments and agencies should be discouraged.
