Greater Vancouver followed with nearly 59 per cent of areas recording an uptick in sales.While detached housing sales increased in the first half of the year for 61 per cent of the 83 markets analyzed, home values remained largely flat, with just five communities, mostly located in the Greater Toronto Area, posting price gains, it said.The five regions are:Stonegate-Queensway and Islington City Centre West (Toronto)Port Moody/Belcarra (Greater Vancouver)Kingsview Village, the Westway, Humber Heights, Willowridge-Martingrove-Richview, West Humber, Clairville (Toronto)Yonge-St. Clair, Casa Loma, Wychwood, Annex (Toronto)Mount Pleasant East, Mount Pleasant West (Toronto)Re/Max Canada president Don Kottick said the rebound remains narrow, selective and far from guaranteed, warning against calling it a “recovery.”“Detached housing may be finding its footing, but affordability, confidence and potential shadow inventory remain wild cards in its comeback,” Kottick said in the report.Re/Max said its agents and brokers report that while activity is starting to increase, buyers are still taking a cautious approach, given uncertainties on the economic front.
