Housing and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy at a meeting with Housing Corporation officials in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The foundation stone for Indiramma houses for people from Lower Income Group (LIG) in Core Urban Region (CURE) would be laid on July 20. The houses would be built in 26 Assembly constituencies, with 500 to 1,000 in each on a pilot project basis. The rest would be constructed in a phase-wise mannerThe State Cabinet on May 23 approved one lakh LIG houses in the CURE limits. Housing and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy earlier directed officials to issue guidelines with details on eligibility criteria, locations of the houses and others in July first week. The Minister, who held a meeting with Housing Corporation officials on Tuesday, said that the guidelines, eligibility criteria, tenders process, implementation and other details would be announced along with Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Rangareddy in-charge Minister Dudilla Sridar Babu. The houses would be constructed in multi-storey buildings. Extent of a flat, number of houses in each locality, number of floors, building design would be announced in two to three days after discussing with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Lands in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation were identified and are in the possession of the Housing Corporation. The Minister said that the government is committed to construct one lakh LIG houses in the financial year 2026-27. The title of the LIG housing scheme is not decided yet. A competition was announced inviting entries for the title and logo, with reward of ₹1 lakh for each.The State government has been provided houses in several rural and few urban parts of the State, by extending ₹5 lakh financial assistance towards the construction in 400 sft for people who own the land.
