Anthropic is handing US teachers a free AI assistant. The company launched Claude for Teachers, a dedicated tool for verified K-12 educators that comes loaded with teaching-specific skills and curriculum connections, at no cost.
Anthropic rolled out Claude for Education on April 2, 2025, initially targeting higher education institutions. That version featured a Learning mode designed around Socratic questioning and guided reasoning, essentially nudging students to think rather than just copy-paste answers.
Partnerships with institutions like Northeastern University and the London School of Economics gave the program academic credibility.
In January 2026, Anthropic partnered with Teach For All, a global education network spanning 63 countries. That collaboration gave over 100,000 teachers access to AI fluency training.
Claude for Teachers appears to be a distinct product from those earlier initiatives, specifically tailored for verified K-12 educators in the US. The tool connects directly to curriculum frameworks and provides resources designed for lesson planning and classroom application.
