MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested a lawyer for allegedly trying to extort P1 million from her two clients, who are siblings, in San Pedro, Laguna, by claiming the payment would keep them safe from syndicates that supposedly threaten their lives.
The entrapment against the lawyer, along with his paralegal, came on Friday after the siblings, Roxy and Sam (not their real names) filed robbery-extortion and cybercrime complaints at the NBI.
Agents from the NBI Organized and Transnational Crimes Division arrived at the office of the lawyer and the paralegal in Taguig City, resulting in their arrest.
