Kanaka Durga temple introduces registration system for ‘Ashada Maasam’ festivities

Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam has announced elaborate arrangements for the annual ‘Ashada Maasam’ festivities, which will be observed from July 15 to August 12 atop Indrakeeladri.As part of the celebrations, devotees, religious organisations and temple committees from different places will offer the traditional ‘Ashada Saare’ (ceremonial offering of sarees and other auspicious items) to Goddess Kanaka Durga. Temple authorities have introduced a registration system to streamline the offerings and manage the flow of devotees.Those intending to offer the Ashada Saaremust register at the temple counters and obtain an authorisation slip. Registered devotees will be permitted to reach the temple only through the designated route from Kanaka Durga Nagar via Maha Mandapam.The festivities will formally commence at 7.30 a.m. on Wednesday (July 15), with the ceremonial presentation of the first Ashada Saare to the presiding deity. The procession will begin from the ‘Om’ curve on the Ghat Road and will be led by the temple’s Sthanacharya, Vedic scholars and priests.Following the offering in the main sanctum, devotees participating in the ceremony will receive blessings before the idol of Goddess Kanaka Durga installed on the sixth floor of the Maha Mandapam.The temple administration has imposed strict security measures during the month-long celebrations. Members of Ashada Saare groups will not be allowed to carry mobile phones or cameras into the temple premises. Devotees have been advised to deposit their luggage, footwear and electronic gadgets at the designated counters in Kanaka Durga Nagar before entering the temple.Authorities also warned that any mobile phones found in the temple premises, including on the sixth floor of the Maha Mandapam, will be confiscated and seized as part of the enforcement of temple regulations.The Executive Officer appealed to devotees to cooperate with the arrangements and follow the prescribed guidelines to ensure the smooth conduct of the Ashada Maasam celebrations.
