'Cut off from life itself': Lesotho association alleges unlawful border refusals by South Africa.
For thousands of Basotho, crossing into South Africa is more than a journey across an international border; it is often the only route to work, medical treatment, education and loved ones.
The Migrant Workers Association of Lesotho (MWA-Ls) has alleged that Basotho citizens are being refused entry at South African border posts, leaving families divided and livelihoods hanging in the balance.
The association said the alleged consequences extend far beyond immigration procedures.
"Every day at South African borders – Maseru Bridge, Ficksburg, Caledonspoort, Van Rooyen's Gate and others – Basotho citizens are turned back, denied entry, and stamped 'declared undesirable' or 'refused entry' without clear reasons and without due process."
