Back in 2013, before The Athletic even existed, our own Grant Brisbee went down a statistical rabbit hole and assembled his all-time Top 10 All-Star lineups. I’m going out on a limb here and guessing — mostly because I don’t want to get stuck in that same rabbit hole with 2013 Grant — that the list hasn’t changed too much. It’s not that the lineups aren’t good anymore. They’re great, in fact. I love the modern game, and I think the players are better than they’ve ever been. I insist that any recently DFA’d 2026 middle reliever plopped down into a 1930 game would be presumed to be a witch. But this isn’t that argument. The argument is: When it comes to any given All-Star Game, are the league’s biggest stars on the field? Increasingly, the answer is “Ehhhhh, sorta?”I’d be interested to see where Grant would rank this hypothetical lineup:1. Aaron Judge, RF
2. Shohei Ohtani, DH
3. José Ramírez, 3B
4. Nick Kurtz, 1B
5. Byron Buxton, CF
