Diljit Dosanjh’s latest film Satluj is making waves across India for its handling of one of the darker chapters in the country’s history and Pakistan’s Bushra Ansari can see why.
The veteran actor posted a reel on her Instagram account on Monday laying out her thoughts on the film and how it left her grieving for her “brothers” in Indian Punjab.
Ansari said she had heard a lot about the film, “but what I saw… left me in grief”. She said she was a big fan of Dosanjh’s work covering such sensitive issues “with great courage”.
She said she had a particularly hard time seeing people of the same faith turn against each other, as was shown in the film, which was an unfortunate reality on both sides of the border.
“There used to be people in the world who would sacrifice their lives for their principles, their nations, their integrity. Where are they now?” Ansari asked.
