Justice Umar Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday adjourned the trial of human rights activist and presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, to Thursday, July 16, 2026, while reserving a decision on the defence's application to subpoena key witnesses.
The case, in which Sowore is facing allegations of cyberbullying, came up for the continuation of the defence after the prosecution closed its case.
At the resumed hearing, defence counsel, R.O. Adakole, urged the court to adjourn the matter after cross examination of his client until after the court's annual vacation to enable the defence to secure the attendance of subpoenaed witnesses.
He informed the court that although the defence had earlier applied for subpoenas, they had yet to be issued.
