More than 180,000 households, businesses and other beneficiaries have received support through energy programs financed by Greece’s Recovery and Resilience Facility, Deputy Energy Minister Nikos Tsafos said on Monday.

Available funding has been fully absorbed following budget reallocations and negotiations with the European Union that redirected resources to schemes with stronger demand and higher absorption rates, Tsafos said.

A total of over €3.3 billion in RRF funding was allocated to energy-related measures, representing around one-sixth of Greece’s Recovery and Resilience Facility.

The funding is structured around three pillars: Energy efficiency programs, with a budget of €1.5 billion; renewable energy, energy storage and electricity grid development programs, with a budget of €1.5 billion; and innovative projects worth around €400 million, covering hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, and the production of green products.
