A non-governmental organisation, Youths Enterprise Development and Innovation Society, has launched an initiative to equip rural women involved in agro-food processing with digital literacy and artificial intelligence skills as part of efforts to improve food security, increase productivity and expand market access.

The organisation disclosed this in a statement issued in Ilorin on Sunday by its Founder and Executive Director, Rafiu Olaore, following the international recognition of its flagship initiative, Digital Capacity Building and AI Integration for Rural Women Agribusiness Processors in Nigeria, by the South-South Galaxy Platform of the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation.

According to the statement, the initiative was recognised by the UN agency as a scalable development solution that combines digital technologies, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and agro-food enterprise development to empower rural women and girls while strengthening local food systems.

Olaore said the programme had been implemented across underserved communities in Osun State and other parts of South-West Nigeria, where it has equipped women processors with digital and business skills to improve their livelihoods.
