Millions of deals are signed worldwide every day, thanks to the fact that the parties involved are able to find the best balance between their interests. From this perspective, we can explain the recent rapid rapprochement between Turkey and Egypt, which began with security coordination and then extended to defense industry cooperation and joint military exercises.
Military and diplomatic developments
The months of June and July witnessed significant developments between Ankara and Cairo, both militarily and diplomatically.
Militarily: Joint air exercises were conducted in Egyptian airspace between June 4 and 17 in Turkey and Egypt. Neither side provided any information about the type or number of aircraft involved. The Egyptian military statement merely indicated that the exercises were conducted at different air bases with the participation of fighter jets, with the aim of increasing the level of coordination and readiness to carry out joint air missions under various scenarios.
On July 8, the Egyptian Armed Forces announced the launch of the joint Egyptian-Turkish training exercise “Golden Eagle,” with the participation of elements from the Egyptian paratrooper and commando forces and Turkish special forces (following the Anatolian Eagle 2026 exercise).
