Canada immigration authorities have reminded prospective immigrants and visa applicants that document fraud is a serious criminal offence, warning that submitting false information could lead to severe penalties, including a five-year ban from entering the country.
The advisory from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) stresses that applicants are responsible for ensuring every detail in their application is truthful, even if an immigration representative prepares and submits it on their behalf.

1. Providing false information is against the law
IRCC says it is illegal to lie or submit false information or documents as part of an immigration application. This offence is known as misrepresentation and can result in serious immigration consequences.
