A total of 3.78 lakh cases, including 3.72 lakh pre-litigation cases, were settled in the Lok Adalat held in the courts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Saturday.In a press release on Monday, the Dakshina Kannada District Legal Services Authority said a total of 3,04,904 cases were settled during the Lok Adalat. Of these, 2,665 were pending court cases, while 3,02,239 were pre-litigation cases.A total of 8,973 of the 57,510 pending cases in 32 courts in Dakshina Kannada were identified for settlement. Of these, 2,665 cases were settled. They included cases related to property disputes, correction of birth certificates, money recovery, specific relief, motor vehicle accident claims, maintenance, cheque dishonour, restitution of conjugal rights, family disputes, and compoundable criminal offences.In Udupi district, a total of 73,355 cases were settled, with the settlement amount totalling around ₹21.06 crore. According to a press release issued by the Udupi District Legal Services Authority, 69,805 of the settled cases were pre-litigation cases. The settled cases included 243 cheque dishonour cases, 12 money recovery cases, 82 motor vehicle accident claims, 2,940 compoundable criminal offence cases, and 273 civil cases.
