Police have launched a murder investigation after three family members were found dead at a property in the Ballymena area of Co Antrim, Northern Ireland15:13, 13 Jul 2026Updated 20:40, 13 Jul 2026Police have launched a murder probe after three people were found dead at a family home in Northern Ireland.‌Officers said one male and two females were discovered in the Old Cullybackey Road area of Ballymena, Co Antrim, at around 9am on Monday, July 13.‌In a statement, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said there was no ongoing risk to the public and that they are not seeking anyone else in relation to the deaths.‌Mid and East Antrim District Commander, Superintendent William Calderwood, said: "The bodies of a male and two females were discovered at a home on the Old Cullybackey Road at around 9am this morning, Monday 13th July."The cause of death has not yet been formally established, and post-mortem examinations will take place in due course. As such, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time, and I would ask that the public avoid speculation.‌"However, I want to reassure the public that we do not believe that there is any ongoing risk, and at this stage we are not seeking anyone else in relation to the deaths. Our thoughts this evening are very much with the family and friends of those who have died."The PSNI previously said: "The three people were related and found inside the family home. There is no ongoing risk to the public. A further update will follow in due course."Forensic officers were pictured at the scene shortly before 11am, with cordons placed along the road and diversions in place at the junctions of Innishowen Park and the Cullybackey Road.‌North Antrim MP Jim Allister said the deaths were a "tragedy causing great shock in the community".He said: "Though details remain scant, clearly there are family and friends who have suffered huge loss.‌"The police has confirmed to me there is no extant risk in the community and no further persons are being sought. More details will follow. Sincere condolences to all affected."Alliance north Antrim MLA Sian Mulholland said her thoughts were with those affected by the "incredibly distressing" discovery and urged those with information to contact the police, reports the Belfast Telegraph.Article continues below"While details continue to emerge about this incident, it is clear there has been a tragedy," she said."The community in Ballymena is in shock already and my thoughts are with everyone affected by what will be an incredibly distressing time, particularly the family and friends of the deceased."I have spoken to police, will need time to investigate this matter and I urge anyone with information on it to give it to them immediately."
