Because Vantaa Prison has been designated as the prison where Kivimäki is to serve his sentence, the wanted notice was issued by Eastern Uusimaa Police.Minkkinen said he could not confirm whether an international wanted notice had also been issued.Lawyer says Kivimäki is not in prisonKivimäki's lawyer, Peter Jaari, told Yle he understood that his client is not currently in prison.Jaari said he does not know Kivimäki's exact whereabouts but believes he is abroad.Kivimäki was released from prison in September 2025 after authorities concluded he risked spending too long in pre-trial detention, which could have entitled him to compensation from the state. The Helsinki Court of Appeal sentenced him in February to six years and 11 months in prison, increasing the original sentence of six years and three months handed down in 2024.The Vastaamo data breach is considered the largest criminal case in Finnish history by number of victims.Kivimäki hacked into the psychotherapy provider's database in 2018, obtaining the personal data of an estimated 33,000 patients. In 2020, he attempted to extort money from both the company and its clients.
