The Adoor police have registered a case against around 20 persons, including Youth Congress workers, in connection with an attempt to assault YouTuber Rajan Joseph while bringing him to the police station here on Sunday night.According to the police, the accused allegedly attacked Mr.Joseph as well as the officers while the Youtuber was being escorted to the Adoor police station after being arrested from Kochi in connection with a defamation case. One police officer sustained minor injuries during the scuffle. A video purportedly showing Mr. Joseph being assaulted also surfaced on social media after the incident.The case against Mr.Joseph was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by Pathanamthitta district panchayat member Sreenadevi Kunjamma, who alleged that the Youtuber had repeatedly posted defamatory content targeting her on social media. Mr.Joseph was later granted bail by a magistrate.Following the arrest, Sreenadevi, in a Facebook post, alleged that Mr. Joseph had fabricated stories and spread defamatory videos on social media for monetary gain.
