A four-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car in a village in Nottinghamshire with a man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Emergency services were called to the scene on Nottingham Road in Gotham on Sunday, July 12 at 2.28pm following reports of the incident. A girl, who has not been named, was brought to hospital but sadly died a short time later. Nottingham Road was subsequently closed following the crash. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed a 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, but has since been bailed after questioning. The force has asked any witnesses, those with dashcam footage or anyone driving in the area at the time of the incident to get in touch. Sergeant Paul Clark of Nottinghamshire Police described the occurrence as 'deeply tragic'.He said: 'Our thoughts are with the young girl's loved ones at this unimaginably difficult time.
